Beyonce Deanne Crow Shoe is a 10 year old from the Piikani Nation Blackfoot confederacy. She is in grade 4 at Canyon School in Pincher Creek, AB. She has always been involved in different sports since the age of 4 years old; gymnastics, baseball, figure skating, curling, bowling, swim club and hockey. She has received numerous athletic awards both from her grade school and the Piikani Youth and Education Foundation for the last two years as well as her respective Athletic associations.

For the last three years Beyonce has focused on swimming. She is involved with Pincher Creek Dolphin Swim Club; the season starts in May and ends mid August. Beyonce practices two hours a day 5 days a week and competes on Saturdays. She has qualified for Alberta Summer Swimming Association Provincials three years in a row, this year she received swim club records in backstroke and breaststroke for her age category. In 2010 Beyonce was awarded Dolphin of the year for bringing in the most points for the club during swim meets.

Beyonce currently ranks 6th in Alberta in her age group for short breast stroke. Since 2009 Beyonce Deanne Crow Shoe has entered in the Southern Alberta Summer Games setting various records and placing in the top 2 standings for her age categories.

Beyonce has been involved in Bowling for the last three years, she has done well and has attended bowling tournaments with her bowling league and received a girls high score trophy.

Beyonce has also been involved in hockey for the past two years, her first year she played on a female team, this year she is playing on a co-ed team and is excelling and learning. Beyonce is looking forward to attending the Alberta Treaty hockey Championships and the Alberta Native Provincials.

Sports have given Beyonce the opportunity to broaden her communication skills and become more confident as a first nations youth. She has also learned new skills, self-discipline and the opportunity to travel and make new and long lasting friendships.
